  • 3 large Carrots approx. 300g
  • 1 tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 2 tsp Tamari or Soy Sauce use tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar lemon juice can be substituted
  • 2 tbsp Neutral Oil (canola, sunflower)
  • 1 tbsp Flax Oil ensure it's fresh
  • 0.25 tsp Sea Salt adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Maple Syrup optional
  • 1 sheet Nori cut into pieces, optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by peeling the carrots and slicing them into thin ribbons using a vegetable peeler or mandoline.
  2. Place the carrot ribbons in a steaming basket over a pot of simmering water. Cover and steam for approximately 5 minutes or until tender yet firm.
  3. Transfer the steamed carrot ribbons into a mixing bowl and let them cool slightly.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the liquid smoke, tamari, rice vinegar, neutral oil, flax oil, sea salt, and optional maple syrup.
  5. Once the carrot ribbons are slightly cooled, pour the marinade over them and gently toss to coat evenly.
  6. Add the optional nori sheet pieces, transfer to an airtight container, and refrigerate overnight.

Notes
