Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Gradually pour in 1 cup of warm water, stirring continuously until a dough begins to form.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a well-floured surface and knead it by hand for about 10 minutes, then let it rest.
  4. Divide the dough into two equal portions; add black gel food coloring to one, and red to the other, kneading until colors are incorporated.
  5. Roll out each colored dough into rectangles, layer them, twist and roll to form a loaf.
  6. Place the shaped loaf in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for about 2 hours.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to a wire rack until completely cooled before slicing.
