Directions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel several garlic cloves and place them in a small baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Roast the cloves for about 20 minutes until they are golden and soft. Let them cool before mashing into a creamy paste.
- While the garlic is roasting, slice your loaf-type bread in half horizontally. Preheat a baking sheet in the oven for 3-5 minutes. Once hot, place the sliced bread on the sheet to bake for about 3-5 minutes until the edges are lightly crispy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine your mashed garlic, melted butter, egg, milk, salt, paprika, and freshly chopped parsley. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Dip each half of the bread into the garlic butter custard, ensuring even coating. Allow the custard to soak in.
- Place the coated bread halves on the baking sheet, spaced apart. Bake for about 15-18 minutes, until bubbling and golden.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of each half. Broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and slightly charred.
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool for a minute, and slice into pieces. Serve warm.

Notes
For the best flavor, roast garlic until golden, toast the bread lightly, and watch closely while broiling to avoid burning.
