  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Optional; omit for a milder dish.
For the Rice
  • 1 cup Jasmine Rice Can substitute with basmati rice if preferred.
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth Can use vegetable broth for a vegetarian option.
For Garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Green Onions Can substitute with chives.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Seeds Optional for extra texture.

Equipment

  • Large skillet

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Stir in 4 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of honey, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and a pinch of salt and red pepper flakes if desired. Pour over the sausage in the skillet.
  4. Gently fold in 1 cup of jasmine rice, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Pour in 2 cups of chicken broth and turn the heat up to high. Bring to a vigorous boil.
  6. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for 18-20 minutes, until rice is tender and broth is absorbed.
  7. Remove from heat and let stand with the lid on for 5 minutes.
  8. Fluff the rice using a fork before plating. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
