  • 1 cup Cream or Milk opt for heavy cream for richness
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika use regular paprika if out
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder fresh minced garlic is an alternative
For the Toppings
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese mix with mozzarella for a different profile
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs panko adds extra crispiness
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil butter can be a substitute
For Garnish
  • 2 tbsp Green Onions can be swapped for chives

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the penne pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Combine cooked pasta, shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, cream or milk, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and half of the cheddar cheese in a mixing bowl.
  4. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the pasta mixture.
  7. If using, heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté breadcrumbs until golden, then sprinkle over cheese layer.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden on top.
  9. Let the dish sit for a few minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
