  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.
  6. Once done, shred the beef directly in the slow cooker.
  7. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry and stir into the broth.
  8. To serve, layer the bread, mashed potatoes, and then the shredded beef topped with gravy.
