  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Mirin Rice vinegar is a suitable alternative
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Oil Can be swapped for a lighter oil
  • 5 cloves Garlic Garlic powder can be a substitute
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger Ground ginger is an excellent alternative
  • 1 Onion Blended
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Adjust to preference
For Garnishing
  • 2 Green Onions Chopped

Equipment

  • Grill
  • Crockpot
  • Air fryer
  • Blender
  • Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a blender, combine low sodium soy sauce, brown sugar, water, mirin, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and blended onion until smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Place the beef short ribs in a 9x13 glass dish. Pour the marinade over the ribs and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, about 400°F. Remove the ribs from the marinade and grill for 3-4 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  4. Transfer the marinated short ribs and reserved marinade into your crockpot. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours until fork-tender.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 375°F. Cook marinated short ribs in a single layer for 5-7 minutes, turning halfway through.
  6. Let the ribs rest for a few minutes, garnish with green onions, and serve with steamed rice and vegetable sides.
