  • 2 cups Whole Milk Plain Yogurt Greek yogurt can be used for thicker consistency.
  • 1 medium English Cucumber, finely diced Use to minimize seeds and excess water.
  • 0.25 cups Minced Red Onion Can be omitted for milder flavor.
  • 0.5 tablespoons Lemon Juice Substitute with lime juice if desired.
For the Freshness
  • 1 handful Fresh Mint Leaves, chopped Fresh dill can also be used.
  • 1 handful Fresh Cilantro, chopped Optional to omit if cilantro is not preferred.
For the Spice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground Cumin Substitute with ground coriander for a different flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Fresh coriander leaves can be used instead.
For Seasoning
  • to taste Salt Adjust to taste.
  • to taste Pepper Adjust quantity according to your preference.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, add yogurt and stir until smooth and creamy, about 1–2 minutes.
  2. Finely dice cucumber and add it to the yogurt mixture along with minced red onion and lemon juice.
  3. Chop mint and cilantro, then sprinkle into the bowl with cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Give the raita a quick stir, spoon it into a serving bowl, and garnish with mint or cucumber if desired.
