  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef A lean blend is essential for protein without excess grease.
  • 1/2 cup Bread Crumbs Feel free to use gluten-free options if needed.
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup Adds a hint of sweetness; substitute with barbecue sauce for a unique taste.
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Yellow mustard is great, but Dijon can add a kick.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Provides a rich, tangy depth; soy sauce can serve as a gluten-free alternative.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder Boosts overall flavor.
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder Boosts overall flavor.
  • 1 tsp Salt Essential for balance.
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper Essential for balance.
For the Gravy
  • 1 packet Brown Gravy Mix Simplifies the process for a quick meal.
  • 1 cup Hot Water Needed to prepare the gravy; no substitutions are necessary.

Equipment

  • large mixing bowl
  • Large skillet
  • Whisk

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, bread crumbs, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes until it shimmers.
  3. Shape the beef mixture into 4 to 6 equal-sized patties, about ¾ inch thick. Place the patties in the heated skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 4-6 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown gravy mix and hot water until smooth. Stir in the remaining ketchup and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Pour the gravy over the cooked patties in the skillet. Allow to simmer on low heat for about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Turn off the heat and transfer the patties to plates. Spoon extra gravy over each patty.
