Step-by-Step Instructions for Basic Soft Pretzels
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water with sugar and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Gradually add flour and salt. Mix with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 10-15 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl and cover. Let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
