Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine Devil's Food cake mix, eggs, and canola oil. Stir until smooth, adding food coloring if desired.
  3. Scoop dough into balls of about 1½ tablespoons each, spacing them on the prepared baking sheets.

  5. In another bowl, beat softened butter, gradually add powdered sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and salt. Mix until smooth, adjusting with milk.

  7. Decorate the cookies with M&Ms for eyes, heart sprinkles for noses, and licorice for whiskers. Use chocolate pieces for ears.
  8. Allow frosting to set before serving.
