  • 1/4 cup Flour Substitute with gluten-free option if needed
  • 4 cups Seafood/Chicken Broth
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning Can substitute with Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 leaf Bay Leaf Remove before serving
  • to taste Salt and Pepper Adjust to taste
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Can substitute with half-and-half
For Garnish
  • to taste Fresh Parsley or Chives Chopped

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the seafood by peeling and deveining shrimp and removing any shells from crab meat.
  2. Melt butter and olive oil in a large pot, then sauté diced onions, chopped celery, and carrots for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, then mix in tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables, stir to coat, and cook for another minute.
  5. Gradually add seafood or chicken broth while stirring. Stir in Old Bay seasoning, paprika, and bay leaf; simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Use an immersion blender to blend to desired texture, leaving some seafood chunks.
  7. Lower heat, mix in heavy cream and seafood, then simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  8. Season to taste, remove bay leaf, ladle into bowls, and garnish with parsley or chives and lemon wedges.
