Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a 10×15-inch baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in an even layer on the lined baking sheet.
  3. Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in 1 cup of light brown sugar, bring to a rolling boil, and stir for 3 minutes.
  4. Pour the toffee over the saltine crackers and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Sprinkle 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips over the hot toffee, let sit for 2-3 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate.
  7. Add optional toppings over the warm chocolate layer and gently press them down.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set.
  9. Once set, lift from the baking sheet and break into squares.
