Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Garlic Turmeric Rice
  1. In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter or ghee over medium heat. Once bubbling, add 1 cup of finely diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  2. Stir in 4 minced garlic cloves and cook for about 1 minute, allowing the garlic to become fragrant but not browned.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder to the aromatics and combine thoroughly.
  4. Introduce 2 cups of rinsed and drained basmati rice into the saucepan and stir for about 1 minute.
  5. Pour in 3 cups of chicken or vegetable stock and add 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil.
  6. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  7. After 15 minutes, remove from heat and let it rest, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. Fluff the rice gently with a fork and drizzle with 1-2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice. Garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro.

Notes

Rinse rice well before cooking to remove excess starch. Sautéing aromatics enhances flavor. Allow rice to rest covered for fluffiness. Adjust liquid if using different rice types. Use fresh ingredients for best flavor.
