  • 1 can White Tuna in water for healthier results
  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise or greek yogurt/hummus for lighter twist
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice freshly squeezed for best flavor
  • 1 stalk Celery finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Green Onion finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley or dill as substitute
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper

  • 4 slices Bread sturdy bread preferred
  • 2 tablespoons Butter softened for spreading
  • 4 slices White Cheddar Cheese or other cheese of choice
  • 1 medium Tomato optional, sliced thinly

Method
 

Cooking Method
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C). Gather ingredients and equipment.
  2. Combine the white tuna, mayonnaise, and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Add celery, green onion, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread. Place four slices buttered side down on a baking sheet.
  4. Spoon tuna salad mixture onto each slice, then layer cheddar cheese and optional tomato slices on top.
  5. Place remaining slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 5 to 8 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven, cool for a minute, slice in half, and serve warm.
