Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Beat the butter and brown sugar together until creamy and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, vanilla, sour cream, and vegetable oil; mix well.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with milk until combined.
  6. Fill each muffin cup ¾ full with batter and bake for 15-18 minutes.
  7. Let cupcakes cool in the tin for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack.
  8. Beat butter and powdered sugar for frosting, then mix in dulce de leche and salt.
  9. Core and fill each cupcake with dulce de leche, then frost with the buttercream.
  10. Garnish as desired, such as with toasted coconut or strawberries.
