Step-by-Step Instructions for Crispy Smashed Potatoes
- Fill a large pot with water and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a rolling boil.
- Carefully add the starchy potatoes and boil for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
- Drain the potatoes and let them steam-dry in a colander for 5 minutes.
- Place the potatoes on a greased baking sheet and gently smash each potato to about ½ inch thick.
