Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by peeling and chopping your potatoes into evenly sized cubes. Place them in a large pot filled with salted water, bringing it to a boil over high heat. Cook for about 15 minutes, or until fork-tender. Once cooked, drain the potatoes well, ensuring there’s no excess water.
  2. While the potatoes are still hot, transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Add butter, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mash everything together until smooth and creamy.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned. Mix in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce, stirring well. Add mixed vegetables and broth, seasoning with salt and pepper. Allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Transfer the beef filling into a baking dish, spreading it evenly. Pipe the cream of mashed potatoes over the filling in ghostly shapes using a piping bag.
  6. Place your assembled Creepy Shepherd’s Pie in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
