Ingredients

For the Casserole
  • 1 pound Fresh Green Beans Can substitute frozen or canned.
  • 8 ounces Bacon Can use turkey bacon or pre-cooked bacon.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Pack tightly for best results.
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Olive oil works as a dairy-free alternative.
  • 1 tablespoon Low Sodium Soy Sauce Tamari is gluten-free substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce Optional or can use liquid smoke.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can elevate flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Consider using fresh onion for flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper Adjust to preference.

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Pot for boiling
  • Serving dish

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by steaming or blanching your fresh green beans to achieve that perfect crisp-tender texture. Boil the beans for 3-5 minutes or steam them for 5-7 minutes until they brighten and soften slightly.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add diced bacon and cook until it becomes beautifully crisp, about 10 minutes.
  3. Using the same skillet with the reserved bacon grease, lower the heat and add brown sugar and unsalted butter. Combine this with soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the glaze thickens.
  4. Once the glaze is prepared, toss the steamed green beans into the skillet, along with half of the crumbled bacon. Stir well to coat the beans evenly.
  5. Transfer your completed Crack Green Beans casserole to a serving dish, and top it with the remaining crispy bacon bits.
