Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter Softened
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 3 Large Eggs At room temperature
  • 1 cup Whole Milk Or cream
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
For the Apples
  • 3-4 Granny Smith Apples Peeled and sliced
For the Streusel Topping
  • 1 cup Old Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Cold, cut into pieces
For the Custard Sauce
  • 4 Egg Yolks
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat 2 cups of whole milk over medium heat.
  3. Whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1/2 cup sugar until creamy.
  4. Combine in saucepan and cook on low heat until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Chill while you make the cake.
Making the Streusel Topping
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, 1/3 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of oats.
  2. Cut in 1/2 cup of cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Chill in the refrigerator.
Baking the Cake
  1. Cream together 1 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add in 3 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
  3. Combine dry ingredients and add to the butter mixture, alternating with 1 cup of milk.
  4. Pour into prepared pan, top with sliced apples, and sprinkle with streusel.
  5. Bake for 50-60 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Serving
  1. Allow the cake to cool for 15 minutes before removing from the springform pan.
  2. Dust with confectioners' sugar and serve with custard sauce.
