  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil or any neutral oil
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or ground turkey
  • 2 cups Beef Broth or vegetable broth for vegetarians
  • 2 cups Elbow Macaroni uncooked
  • 15 ounces Tomato Sauce high-quality canned
  • 14.5 ounces Diced Tomatoes with juices
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce omit for vegetarian
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning or dried oregano/basil
  • 1 leaf Bay Leaf remove before serving
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • optional Crushed Red Pepper omit for milder version
For Garnish
  • to taste Fresh Parsley chopped
  • to taste Shredded Cheddar Cheese optional

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add 1 chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  2. Add in 2 minced garlic cloves, cooking for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in 1 pound of ground beef, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  4. Add 15 ounces of tomato sauce, 14.5 ounces of diced tomatoes, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, and 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour in 2 cups of beef broth, bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Add 2 cups of uncooked elbow macaroni, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes or until pasta is al dente.
  7. Remove the bay leaf, taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  8. Serve hot garnished with freshly chopped parsley and optional shredded cheddar cheese.
