Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar for the brownie layer. Mix in the egg and vanilla, then gradually add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt before folding in chocolate chips.
- In another bowl, cream cold butter with sugars for the cookie layer. Add in egg and yolk along with the vanilla. Slowly incorporate flour and baking soda, and fold in chocolate chips.
- Scoop uniform portions from both doughs and combine them into single balls.
- Space the dough balls on the baking sheets and bake for 8-9 minutes.
- Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
